We have some old high school classmates that live in the flooded area. This note is from a girl named Robin. She's in Louisiana and amid all the turmoil there.
Here's her note:

** We have had a battery operated TV so we've been getting local channels focusing on the situation there and here. I'm just getting the "national perpsective" and its *(&*&(*ing me off!

First, this is not a racial thing. I'm sorry if all the reporters are seeing are black faces but if they would
take their cameras to places like Slidell, Mandeville, Metairie and CHALMETTE! they would see a several thousand white faces being affected by this. Most of the tip of the boot that is Louisiana south and east of Baton Rouge is under water. Those people are stuck too waiting for help, dying, but all the news people can focus on is the Superdome.

Another misconception. The violence going on there is not the reaction of desparate people. Its typical New Orleans on any given Tuesday!!! Its a dangerous, dirty, drug infested place where the city police and city government is corrupt and useless. Volunteers are getting shot at and their cars vandelized. Hellicopters are being shot at. Just another day in the city.

Another misconception. These poor people couldn't get out because they don't have cars. If the cameras show the city once the waters recede, you'll notice all the flooded out cars littering the streets. They couldn't all have been broken down before the storm hit . Yes, there are always people who do not have transportation. Part of making the call for a MANDATORY evacuation is that the city has to provide for transportation and/or shelter in the city. People stayed for the same reasons they always stay. They think the storm will turn and go in another direction. They think they can "ride it out." Or, they're just too (*&)lazy to pack up and leave.

Another misconception. The federal government was slow to respond. The president issued a state of emergency BEFORE the storm ever hit, unprecedented. This means that the full access of the federal government, be it military or civil, were at our govenor's disposal. The levee broke early Monday afternoon. She did not call evacuation until Tuesday morning. You cannot call up National Guard units in 20 minutes. It takes time. The
governor and mayor are in high CYA mode at the moment.

The situation is bad here. Crime is becoming a problem in Gonzales and Baton Rouge where the evacuees are being housed. We live between the two cities and there is pistol on my desk shelf as a type (yes, I know how to
use it). Hellicopters flying overhead all day, gas is running out, stores shelves becoming empty. Its like a war zone. Our kids are both here and are staying here until the crime situation gets in control and I fear it
will get worse before it gets better. Pray for us. **

SO, that's all I'm asking. SEND this to your friends and right now say a prayer for the people going through this whole catastrophe. Thanks.

Well anyways, I've got alot going on now, have to figure out the job situation, have a possible interveiw tommorrow with a place that won't open until 6-8weeks so that's a little harsh. trying to peice together the celtic festival volunteer massage thingy to try to get my name out int he comunnity. Most of all After reviewing our budget as a new family it is kinda discouragign to see that we can spend so much on eating out ect. just that alone kills us. But I'm sure we can figure this out, Kims a little distressed about it, I can't blame her since we don't exactly have the best of situations right now, I wish I could do more but I'm kinda stuck with the job thing, I'm doing everything I can but it doesn't seem godd enough so that's really sucky... I try to tell her that everything is alright and to breathe but that only works so long and then yeah. The only thing I know is that we need to take it as it comes. I guess since I've lived my whole life like this it's only natural for me to be so calm about the situation, I just wish I could make Kim feel more comforted and I wish I could make Others understand and chill for a few moments while we gather our resources together. That Added stress actually cuases more of a burden then it does a "snap into action" kind of attitude. WE are thankful though and really blessed, alot of people pitched in to help buy baby stuff for us, hehehe some of the cutest clothes ever!!!!! *psst don't tell her I'm looking for a redskins onezy just yet!* ;) But the thing I'm trying to say is I do listen, I do take it to heart, but I'm just not that emotional about he situation, I'm very "I know what needs to be done, so I'll do that and we'll make it if we adjust" Kind of a person. I wish that could be understood. oh well I'm out laterz.

Heyo everybody!

Quick note, I found out from my school today that it is required for my "current employer" to pay me for the time I spent while working for her. so I will get my check and leave them on there asses! other than that my school is paid off and I will be getting a pretty little piece of paper as proof I completed something other than scratching my balls :-p (now I rub them lol.. j/k :-/) anyhow... I'm heading the massage board for this years Potomac Celtic Festival and on top of that Kim and I have gotten the ok to give the Band members of the Celtic band Gaelic Storm Seated Massage!!!!! Frick'n sweet!!!!!! Anyhow life is starting to look a little brighter from my few past days!!!! rock on!!! :-p

Well, lots of interesting developements have come about my current job at Scarlet's... Well, I have to deal with the fact that the hired a new massage therapist while we have no clientle and gave her my hours I requested... On top of that figure out how to get my pay from the previous month since she didn't hand me papers to fill out for taxes and or a contract.(btw at least 4 people there are working without any formal paperwork and have been getting paid) And on top of that figure out how to shut her dirty business down without getting my butt in a law suit.... I'm not vengefull or anything.... just very protective of the fact that I'm being used and not getting paid, and with not getting paid not being able to support my now wife and expected child, so in this case it is good to be miffed. Unfortunately craftiness and strategy have never been a strong quality in me. I usually bull rush things and sort things out to my liking, but that won't work in this instance... Ho Hum *sighs*

Yup, I graduated from massage school today, finally it's over and I no longer have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn and waist 1/2 tank of gas going ot and from school a day. Anyhow... TSA is a transportation security thing for screeners at the airport, now mind you they are very inistant on you showing up on time and expect nothing else. We'll Obviously Anyone who's apart of TSA IS a DUMB FUCK b/c the directions they gave me to my phaseI test in Herdon was Wrong. They said take dulles toll road to centrevill rd then make right into worldgate drive then left onto wilkshire then pull into parking garage.... Seems easy enough right? nope. I get there there are two parking garages on either side of the road ok so I pick the one on the left side ok jump out and am an hour early for the test b/c I want to look good for the position.... well I go through the building and no one is there not even a security guard for Christ sake! After Walking around an empty building which really kind of reminded me of 28 days later, I stumbled upon a stack of lamentated charts in the building... Come to find out that building was a Fannie Mae Building.... ok this pisses me off first of all b/c there was no one in the building and the doors are unlocked... God only knows what Kind of shit was happening there so I could get blamed for it... (maybe nothing but you never know, I got a police visit to my house b/c a bank called them saying I was casing the bank when I was really enjoying the various Claude monets and van Gohs on there walls.... It must be b/c I'm not White :-p but italian... you get it? ok maybe not) anyhow 20mins past and I really need to find this building... so instead of taking the time to run to my car and manuver through various car garage crap I Just darted out of the building ran through bushes to get across the street to the other parking garage. I do that and end up sprinting the whole way through the garage to the building's reception area. Of course there is no secretary there to greet or direct me so I just asked 5 random people if they knew if tsa was there.. they just looked at me a told me they've never heard of Tsa. so I'm scratching my head it's now 10 mins till test time so I decided I'm gonna look for a directory on the wall somewhere maybe I could find something ot do with security......... 40 listings and not one of the having to do with security.... Mmmm ok. Some of you would be wondering why didn't I call them to let them know what was going on? well according to there rules of taking a test I may not bring any cell phone or personal items to the test... not even a pen or pencil... so basically my phone was across the street in my car 3rd level of a parking garage..... So Now I got this E-mail From TSA stating that I failed the test due to not being there and that unless I can produce anyking of proof that I wasn't able to attend That will remain my status and I will have to reapply after 186 days. I already explained that there directions where missleading and that there was no testing center there but they shot that down... so basically b/c of those dumb fucks I failed the test. so lets give US Security a great pat on the back and know that we're safe ... mother fuckers.....

Ok I had to open the message with a line like that but yah know it wouldn't be stylish! :-p Well.... for all the friends that Aren't Kim's and Mine and for all the friends that are and have heard the News I'l like to take the time to Anounce the Expected arrival The child of Kim and I :) We found out about sept 4th, 5th around midnight that she was pregnant and are no Throughly excited to find out of our expected little one :) well, to make things even more interesting my mother, who with every family pregnancy I've known, takes a string and a ring that the mother wears and does the pendulum thing to deterimine the gender of the baby. She has still yet to be wrong in telling the gender and has preformed the task on Kim which resulted in Us having a Baby Boy :) Kim can voche for my mom during the preformance of the pedulum thing, she said my mom was completely still not flinching a muscle as the engagment ring on a string waved wildly up and down her tummy, so that was really cool. :) So yeah I'm very excited to be a soon to be daddy :-P
